Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction A Disappointment
I was excited for the release of Netflix’s Extraction with Chris Hemsworth as the lead character. The trailer looked interesting and I was interested in what roles Chris could play after being Thor.
***Spoilers Ahead***
Well let me just say this movie was quite a disappointment. The main issue is that the main storyline didn’t really exist. It was all about guns and action from Hemsworth’s character, Tyler Rake.
The backstory about Tyler Rake was lacking. There’s a few scenes of flashback of him seeing his young son at the beach by the water. At the beginning of the movie you see Tyler dive into a river and just sitting on the bottom for a long time. You find out his son died a long time ago and he became a mercenary waiting to get killed by a bullet. So naturally you would think that his son died by drowning in the ocean. Noooo, close to the end of the movie you found out that his son died because of cancer. And at the end, Tyler gets shot up and he decides to fall back over the bridge and into the water to drown. The director should’ve just make his son died by drowning instead of having so much other hints pointing to that and then saying cancer.
There’s no comedy in this movie but there was a part where I think the director was trying to make a joke from it. During a fight in the kidnapper’s apartment, Tyler fought and killed all the kidnappers there. One was killed by a…rake…yes, Tyler Rake killed a guy with a rake. A rake that was so happen to be in an apartment because it seems like there would be leaves there….yeaaaa…makes so much sense. If you want to make it a bit funny then the director should have Tyler use a HAMMER during the fight. Use the hammer to kill a guy then have Tyler make a funny facial expression afterwards.
There was no character development at all on ALL of the characters of this movie. This movie seems like just a run and gun film with no storyline. Just pure action which is a totally waste of talent for the mighty Thor.
You also need to use subtitles in the movie since there’s 3 different languages in it, English, Hindi and Bangla. Movie would’ve been find if they dubbed it all English.
