Poems / Sonnets

Most of these were written during high school and undergrad years.

Shakespearean sonnets are ababcdcdefefgg style.

Sonnets 1, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 13 are one series about the Dove.

Sonnet 1 – To The Dove (Dove Series)
The summer sun shines so bright,
And my dove is soaring up in the sky.
Letting me have my full delight,
But will it come down to me as time goes by.
It always flies faster than me,
With every beat of its wing.
But when will it be,
Down here perching?
I would never know what happen to my dove,
Because I didn’t find it the air.
Since yesterday it flew above,
And it wasn’t fair.
I hope it knew before it went into flight,
That I was trying to grow wings before that night.
Sonnet 2
Near the might boulder,
My precious crystal ball,
I guess I couldn’t hold her,
So I must’ve let her fall.
If anyone should find it,
Please return it to my keep,
Be careful if you use it,
For its powers are deep.
If you shall find,
The thing I had lost.
You will see what I left behind,
The thing that has a lot of cost.
   When you find it glowing,
That is when it starts showing.
Sonnet 3
Sonnet 4
O dear Sunisa, your beauty is so vast,
It is hard sometimes to describe it fast.
I thought the entire world I would impress,
If only your portrait I could compress.
Alas! First when I tried to use VQ,
I found that your cheeks belong to only you.
You silky hair contains a thousand lines,
Hard to match with sums of discrete cosines.
And for your lips, sensual and tactual,
Thirteen Crays found not the proper fractal.
And while these setbacks are all quite severe,
I might have fixed them with hacks here or there.
But when filters took sparkle from your eyes
I said, “Heck with it. I’ll just digitize.”
Sonnet 5 – A Reply from the Dove (Dove Series)
In the air,
In the sky,
I am a fair,
Dove that did fly.
The day I left,
Was to reach the north,
For the warmth that I could get,
Since I am starting to cough.
My flock had left together,
To find shelter,
‘Cause of the bad weather,
But I did leave you a letter.
In my tree, up in my nest,
Please, read it with your best.
Sonnet 6 – A Letter From the Dove (Dove Series)
Don’t be too sad,
Don’t be too happy.
But be glad,
Since you are very lucky.
Among the nest,
I left you something that represents Love.
It was with all my best,
To present you with a baby Dove.
I am sure to die,
Since my youth is gone.
That is why I am saying bye,
For I am done.
But while I am alive, I will think of you, dear friend,
And all losses are restored and sorrows will end.
Sonnet 7 – The Dove’s Proposal (Dove Series)
This is the end,
The end of my life.
You are a good friend,
For I am your wife.
Please accept this proposal,
For you to be mine.
Don’t send back a refusal,
Instead answer me in time.
Before I go above,
Let me know how you feel.
For I must have your love,
Show me how you kneel.
   Can you say to
   Me, “I Do”?
Sonnet 8 – Operation Desert Thunder
The whole world is angry
With all of your nuclear artillery.
With war,Your country would surely fall,
One second is all it takes to end it all.
War on Earth would make a decrease,
’til all would die without peace.
This would make a crease
So, why don’t you learn to make peace?
The weak and wounded would live without ease
And the brave and strong would have a big feast.
So without doubt
War means death, so why not halt
This destructive time of assault.
Sonnet 9 – An Answer to the Dove (Dove Series)
As I lay the Dove,
In her grave.
I can only think of her love,
And what she gave.
Her proposal,
Was so grand.
That I cannot give her a refusal,
So I gave her my hand.
As the Dove lay at rest,
I placed some roses in her resting place.
And gave her a box that I had best,
Then I looked up in space.
   In the box any king,
Could see, that it’s a diamond ring.
Sonnet 10 – A New Beginning (Dove Series)
I must wait,
I must see.
To see when Fate,
Will set me free.
My Dove,
Had left me.
But I cannot love,
Another but she.
I am beginning a new life,
To take care of the baby,
From my wife,
That left me sadly.
   This is the starting,
   Of a new beginning.
Sonnet 11 – My new Life
My life is full of happiness,
It can be seen in my story.
Although there was some sadness,
It was still filled with glory.
After this tale,
My new life is what you shall see.
I am going to sail,
Through the tranquil sea.
My boat is my ride,
To a new start.
I must go out with the tide,
For I must restart my heart.
I sailed on an endless journey,
   Through the sea of money.
Sonnet 12 – The Night Sky
On a cold damp night,
I could see the stars.
Under a street light,
I stare up to mars.
I see your face everywhere in the sky,
And on the moon.
I soar up high,
And I hope I could see you soon.
I flew up to the white ball,
Hoping to find you there.
But all I found was the fall,
Of a mighty empire that was rare.
I asked myself, “What shall I do?”
Then I thought that I should keep my cool.
Sonnet 13 – Dove No More (Dove Series)
Darkness has engulfed this once scenic room
Trapped in a cage that will not give
Leaving the Dove time to think of its doom
Prying away at the bars was addictive
Air is tight as the fire consume
Silent is the Dove for it cannot scream
Slowly shedding away this feathery costume
The pain is real for this is no dream
Unable to see and unable to feel
Staring into the abyss as this body reek
From the ashes the skin peel
For this is not darkness that I seek
Death, the Dove for there’s no fix
Risen, for I am the Phoenix
The Journey
One stands alone,
Alone in the dark world,
Condemned.
Alone, but not forlorn
By this jet-black muffled canvas,
One searches for meaning with one’s own turbulent mind.
A new world is created,
Needed in order to survive,
Even though the world may be a dream.
Through the darkness of the new realm, one explores.
Found in the void is one’s wish –
An emblem created by the need for a companion.
Bright is the wish;
Its light is cast upon all.
The dismay is knotted no more.
The reward – the journey into the new.
Brainstorm
Blackened storm clouds
Hovering,
Above the mind,
Preventing all rays of thought
Above
From passing through to the paper
Below.
Then lightning flashed
And sparked
To jump-start
The generator of imagination.
Original ideas flowed,
Propelling the train of though
Through the brainstorm.
